The UK published HC 584 on 3 September. It amends rules covering visitors, students, skilled workers, family routes, Hong Kong BN(O), long residence and other appendices, with different commencement dates.
Applicants preparing, holding or extending UK leave should check the commencement date, eligibility and evidence for their own route rather than rely on an older page.
Canada confirms the two temporary permanent-residence pathways for eligible Hong Kong residents stopped accepting new applications on 31 August 2026. Applications accepted on or before that date continue to be processed.

Australia’s SkillSelect page says the next Skilled Independent (subclass 189) invitation round is expected by 30 September 2026. This is an expected schedule, not a guarantee that any EOI will receive an invitation.
Prospective 189 applicants should verify their EOI, skills assessment, English results, work history and points evidence before the round. Scores and invitations depend on the government’s published outcome.
The September bulletin lists Final Action Dates and Dates for Filing for family- and employment-based preference cases. Adjustment applicants in the US must also check the chart USCIS authorizes for that month; dates vary by category and chargeability area.
Employment-based, family-based and consular applicants should check their priority date, country of chargeability and category line by line rather than rely on general headlines about movement.
INZ’s final settings took effect on 24 August 2026: most skilled-residence applicants need to meet one wage threshold. The new Trades and Technician and Skilled Work Experience pathways clarify evidence and genuine-employment requirements; self-employment cannot count as directly relevant experience for those two new pathways.
Skilled-residence and work-to-residence applicants should recheck wage, qualification-credit, genuine-employment and work-experience rules. Applicants with self-employment backgrounds should assess route fit with particular care.
From 24 September 2026, most new visitor-visa applications must use Enhanced Immigration Online. Drafts remaining in the old system will be deleted on 8 October; submitted applications remain accessible there for uploads and responses.
People with old-system drafts should decide promptly whether to submit or restart in the new system; do not leave a draft until after the deadline.
